It involves recalling past events, which become activated when people are facing death. Butler stated that an adaptive life review can reconstruct their past experiences, give significant meanings to their lives, reduce anxiety, and prepare them for death. Contents expressed during the life review process appear to reflect the seniors' views on life and death. In this study, the researchers interviewed two mentally healthy female participants in their 80s without signs of dementia. The participants were interviewed five times using the life review method. Their views on life and death were analyzed as case studies.
