          <datacite:description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">It was carried out to clarify the relationship of fruit development and lowering of bulk density in satsuma mandarin, with special reference to peel-puffing. 1. With the advance of maturity, the bulk density of the fruit gradually decreased, and the cavity of tissue of central axis increased. The bulk density of large sized fruits was smaller than that of small ones. In larger fruits, it was formed bigger cavity of central axis. However, the fruits with thicker peel showed small bulk density, and had small hollow centers as compared to the fruits with thinner peel. 2. As the puffing progressed, the fruits showed lowering of bulk density and expanding of cavity. The puffy fruits had a large volume of air spaces between peel and pulp. The fruits produced by the trees with 30 leaves per fruit showed the smallest bulk density and the greatest degree of puffing. The fruits on leafless bearing shoot showed a large bulk density and a little puffing.</datacite:description>
          <datacite:description xml:lang="ja" descriptionType="Abstract">温州ミカンの果実肥大とくに果皮の発達と果実比重の関係を, 果心の空隙と浮皮現象との関連において検討するために本実験を行った. 1. 果実が成熟に近づくと, 果実比重は低下し, 果心部の空隙が大きくなった. 大果は小果にくらべ, 果実比重は小さく, 果心の空隙も大であった. 原皮果で果実比重が小さかったが, 果心の空隙は薄皮果で大であった. 2. 浮皮程度が大となるほど, 果実比重が低下し, 果実内の空隙も大きくなった. 葉果比30で最も果実比重は小さく, 浮皮程度も大であった. 直花果は果実比重が大きく, 浮皮果も少なかった.</datacite:description>
