          <datacite:description xml:lang="en" descriptionType="Abstract">The purpose of this paper is to study the effects of torsion on the bending strength of the structural members and to try to evaluate the safety of the main framing of the agricultural large structure. Following the previous paper, as basic research for that, here from the behaviors of cantilever beams with semicircular section due to the combined moments of different kinds of ratio of twisting moment to bending moment, the effects of torsion on the bending strength of beams and the relation between the ratio of twisting moment to bending moment and the factor of safety were studied. From these studies, the following can be mainly indicated: the torsional stresses have a great influence on the bending strength of beams with open section. Therefore through the use of equation (11) employed to take account of torsional stresses in this paper regardless of the ratio of twisting moment to bending moment, it seems that the safety can be covered by the use of the usual factor of safety which, for practical usage, is usually about 1.7. Even if the ratio of twisting moment to bending moment is below a few percent, care must be taken not to neglect the torsional stresses, because there is a possibility that the safety can not be covered by the use of the usual factor of safety.</datacite:description>
          <datacite:description xml:lang="ja" descriptionType="Abstract">本研究の目的は部材の曲げ強度に及ぼす捩りの影響を調べ, 農業用大型施設構造物骨組主構の安全性の評価に資することにある. そのための基礎的研究として, 前報に引続いて今回半円形片持梁に捩りと曲げのモーメント比を変えて作用させ, 生ずる梁の挙動から, 捩りの影響並びにモーメント比と安全率との関係を探った. その結果開断面梁の場合捩り応力の曲げ強度に及ぼす影響は極めて大きく, 本文中の捩り応力を考慮した(11)式を用いると, 捩りと曲げの割合に関りなく通常の安全率1.7程度で実用上支障のない程度の安全性は保たれるが, たとえ捩りモーメントが曲げモーメントの数%程度以下であっても, 捩り応力を無視すると通常の安全率程度では安全性をカバー出来ない恐れがあり注意を要すること, 等を指摘した.</datacite:description>
