「趣味の規準」に関する若干の考察 A few reflections on “of the Standard of Taste” 石川, 徹 イシカワ, トオル Ishikawa, Toru open access In this paper, the author tries to give some new interpretations on David Hume’s essay “of the Standard of Taste”. This essay concerns criticism of arts which Hume intended to include in his program of ‘science of man’. The author, therefore, inquires what relation Hume’s theory of the standard of taste has to his theories of norms concerning sensations, morals, and understanding. In comparison with sensation, the author discovers Hume presupposes the constancy of human nature and judgment about the works of arts. In relation to morals, there is an important difference between moral judgment and aesthetic one, concerning their normative powers. Finally, the author compares the rules of arts and the rules of the judgment of causes and effects.
