          <datacite:description xml:lang="ja" descriptionType="Abstract">Evaluating the genetic structure of organisms in the landscape exposed by human impacts may provide us to reveal the change of pattern of gene flow. I investigated the genetic structure of pond populations of an aquatic macrophyte Nymphoides indica based on water systems of the western part of Kagawa Prefecture by using microsatellite markers. Simpson's diversity index (D) showed the high value across populations, which means that most of each rarnet sampled has a unique genotype. The number of genotypes detected (G) significantly increased with sample size higher for dimorphic than monomorphic populations, indicating that seed production contributes to the maintenance of genotypic diversity. According to the PCoA (Principle Coordinate Analysis) based on DAS (Shared Allele Distance) among populations, I could not confirm the genetic structure of N. indica populations depended on water systems. AMOVA also shows that more than half of the variation in N. indica is observed within populations. I conclude that the N. indica populations were genetically isolated and were not affected by historical floodings.</datacite:description>
