内容記述 | In this paper, we examine the comparative evaluation systems, focusing the degree of delegating authority, and discuss why the systematic evaluation capacity of centralization/ decentralization issued between the Japanese and American firm, as is suggested in Aoki (1988). For simplicity, we shall consider the following two evaluation systems: (1) the personnel department evaluation system (PES) in which informations provided by supervisor and by personnel department are overlapping observation, and (2) the supervisor evaluation system (SES) in which only evaluator is the supervisor in the firm. As the uncertainty about abilities is smaller as stable business environment changes in each evaluation system, lower changes in the prior variance of the agent-level state variable are likely to lead to higher delegation for the supervisor. If the relative sizes of the variance are reversed, prior variance of the relative abilities and exogenous noise is bigger than a specified critical value, then the firm prefer delegating more authority to the personnel department to delegating more authority to the supervisor. Our theoretical results are consistent with some empirical findings. | |||||||||||
