| 内容記述 | 本稿の目的は、地域の持続的発展という視角から日本の都市雑貨工業における製品・産業転換の実像を明らかにすることである。検討事例としては両大戦間期に国内最大のマッチ生産地域からゴム製品生産地域へ転換した神戸市をとりあげた。まず工場名簿を用いてどこの誰がこの時期にゴム製品工業へ参入したのかを検証した。その結果、神戸市西部の林田区を中心に多種多様な業種からの参入があったことが判明した。同地域には明治期以来マッチ関連工場の立地とそれに促された化学工場の集中があり、原料面で共通性のあるゴム製品工業にとって有利な条件が整っていた。また同時期にはゴム製品工業内でも変化が生じていた。「配合革命」による技術的な参入障壁の低下に加えて、特徴的な分業関係の形成により資金・設備面での参入障壁も低下した。そこに零細規模経営の存立基盤が存在し、市場の動きに対応してゆく都市雑貨工業のダイナミズムを下支えしていたのである。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This paper, through a detailed study of products and producers, analyses industrial conversion in ur- ban small and medium┡sized industries from the perspective of regional sustainable development. The study focuses on Kobe City during the interwar period, analyzing the shift of the region which had been Japan’s largest match production area to production of rubber products. A study of factory lists showed that a wide variety of industries entered the rubber products industry during this period, mainly in Hayashida Ward in the western part of Kobe City. Hayashida Ward had been the center of match┡related industries and chemical factories since the Meiji era. This concentration of producers was also advantageous for the rubber products industry, which shared commonalities in raw material procurement. There were also changes within the rubber products industry during this period, as the “blending revolution” and the formation of unique production forms lowered the barriers to entry. These factors, taken together, provided the foundation for the establishment of small and medium┡ sized urban industries in response to market movements. | |||||||||||||
