| 内容記述 | This paper examines the effects of expanding child allowance policies funded by labor income taxation in a small open economy using an overlapping generations model with four life stages: childhood, young working adulthood, middle-aged working adulthood, and old age. Households experience two working periods, where young adults simultaneously engage in labor and child-rearing, while middle-aged adults focus solely on labor. Our analysis reveals that the impact of expanding child allowance policies on fertility rates depends on the severity of low fertility in the economy. Specifically, in economies with advanced demographic decline, an increase in child allowances may paradoxically lead to a further decrease in fertility. | |||||||||||||
