| 内容記述 | We propose a statistical industry classification method for unlisted firms, where stock-based approaches are infeasible. By modeling unlevered beta as a function of stable financial ratios, we identify subindustry structures through clustering. To handle anonymized, non-panel data, we combine UMAP, HDBSCAN, and MONIC for nonlinear dimension reduction, density-based clustering, and temporal tracking. Applying this framework to Japan’s entertainment industry, we uncover stable clusters that align with official subindustry definitions and macro indicators, even amid COVID-19 disruptions. Our method provides a practical alternative for classifying firms without market or textual data. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
