 note = {In order to develop an English proficiency test that can be used as a reliable measure of students'performance in English classes, the question items of a test used by the author (EP Test) were analyzed in terms of item difficulty, discrimination power, a叫actualn°um ber of options. Using the information gained by the item analysis, a revised test (EP-R Test), which consists of question items selected to suit students'proficiency levels and adopts a unique scoring system, was administered to students. The test scores produced by EP-R Test were more reliable. and consistent with the scores of TOEIC Test. It was also found that the new scoring system, which utilizes the information of test takers'choice of options, constantly improve the reliability and correlation coefficients.},
