These disused irrigation reservoirs varied from 257㎡ to 87,840㎡ in water area. The smaller reservoirs (less than 2,000㎡ in water area) occupied 40.7 per cent of the total number of disused irrigation reservoirs. Most of the land gained from the irrigation reservoirs was used for housing sites. It amounetd to 59.4 per cent of the total area of the reclaimed land. No land was used for factories. The usage of 19.7 per cent of the area reclaimed has not yet been determined. In order to prevent various water disasters occurring by disusing the irrigation reservoirs, adequate preventive studies were carried out by the engineers of the prefecture.
