Plastic covering hastened flowering and harvest by 3 weeks. However, the extent of promotion of flowering and harvest was almost the same between the peaches with different chilling requirement. Under plastic covering conditions, bud burst and flowering of the mid‐chill peaches occurred 2 weeks earlier than those of the high‐chill peach, as well as under open field conditions. This showed the advantage of using mid‐chill peaches for cultivation in a plastic house.
