| 内容記述 | This study was designed to determine whether dietary catechin intake protects against alcohol‐induced liver injury in rats. Forty‐eight male Wistar rats (3 weeks old) were divided into 6 groups: dextrin (D), low‐ethanol (LE), highethanol (HE), dextrin and catechin (DC), low‐ethanol and catechin (LEC), high‐ethanol and catechin (HEC). LE and LEC diets contained 6.5 % ethanol and HE and HEC diets contained 19.5 % ethanol. Catechin (2 %) was added into DC, LEC and HEC diets. Rats were fed experimental diets based on high‐carbohydrate (dextrin) diet ad libitum for 8 weeks. Food intake and energy intake were higher in the high‐ethanol groups, but body weight gain did not differ among six groups. Neither dietary ethanol nor catechin influenced serum triglyceride concentration, aspartate amino transferase (AST) and alanine amino transferase (ALT) activities. These results suggest that supplemental catechin has no effect of alcohol‐induced liver injury in rats. | |||||||||||||||||
