| 内容記述 | A few habitats of the Japanese mudskipper, Periophthalmus modestus Cantor, 1842, were found at the mud tidal flats in the eastern part of Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. This species is classified as NT (Near Threatened) in the Red Lists by the Japan Ministry of Environment and as semi-endangered in the neighboring Prefectures' red data books. However, information on the mudskipper in Kagawa Prefecture is extremely scarce and it is not listed in the current red data book (2004) by the Environmental Forest Department. Since a recruitment of the juveniles was found at these investigation sites, the habitats seem to be sustainable throughout a year. It would be desirable to monitor the environmental conditions at the habitat for the protection of this species. In order to provide mud to the tidal flats and prevent an outflow of the muddy substratum (a significant environmental factor), strict restriction on landfills and riverbank revetment works around this area will need to be put in place. | |||||||||||||||||
