All through the seven years the time of emergence in each month has been almost constant, but bats emerge earlier on the days after the typhoon than on the days of the same periods in other years. The time elapsed after emergence to the sunset was the longest from late June to early August. The time of emergence is earlier during the periods of pregnancy and lactation than the periods of parturition. It follows that energy demands on females P. abramus is very high in pregnancy and in lactation. Weaning young bats leave their roosts earlier than adult bats in August. When air temperature falls to about 12℃, bats do not emerge. More than 80 per cent bats appear when air temperature is over 20℃.
