| 内容記述 | The horizon of the Mitoyo bed, Kagawa pref., which yields molar fossils of Stegodon sugiyamai and S. sp. has not been known. The bed of the fossil molar fragments discovered at Kochi, Yamamoto-cho, Mitoyo-gun, presents at a horizon from 14.5m below the Gomasio tuff, and about 3.5m above the vitric tuff(Si-II), respectively. The bed yields mega-plant fossil remains, Trapa sp. and woods. The pollen records show high ratio of the border leaved tree pollen Ulmus and Zelkova-Quercus (containing ever green Quercus) - Fagus-Pterocarya and Juglans and the conifer tree pollen like Pseudotsuga & Larix-Abies-Pinnus-Tsuga. This assemblage differs from that of S. cf. akashiensis bed in the Mitoyo bed group of the eastern part of Kagawa. The pollen grains of Pseudotsuga are abundant in the S. sugiyamai bed, because only the cone of Pseudotsuga japonica and P. subrotunda and no Larix sp. were found in the mega-plant fossil remains from the Mitoyo group. If pollen assemblage correlates with the present vegetation, the bed deposited in the molar fossils is estimated as the upper warm temperate-lower cool temperate zone, though to correlate paleoclimate with paleovegetation from pollen assembrage gives some problems. The present analysis suggests that the S. sugiyamai be belongs to the extinction age of the Metasequoia flora as in the case of the Osaka group. | |||||||||||

| 内容記述 | 1) 香川県三豊層群産スギヤマゾウ[ Stegodon sugiyamai (Tokunaga) ], の産出層準が初めて明らかにされたことを述べた。それは, ゴマシオ火山灰の約14.5m上で, シリアス火山灰IIの約3.5m上である。 2) このスギヤマゾウ産出は, Ulmus & Zelkova - 落葉Quercus - Fagus - Pterocarya & Juglansの広葉樹、Abies - Pseudotsuga & Larix - Tsugaの針葉樹で代表される一連の花粉組成からである。 3) 花粉分析結果はスギヤマゾウ産出層準が暖帯上部～冷温帯下部の植生気候下にあったことを示唆している。 | |||||||||||
